    With twenty plus years surfing in elite competition, & twenty-five years shaping & glassing, Sasha Lowenson is a staple in the Australian surf industry.

    As the first trans professional surfer, this self-described “accidental pioneer” has a passion & drive to create more access & inclusion for surfers under the trans umbrella, & works with international & reputable surf organizations worldwide.

    A short board shredder & a master long boarder, Sasha is paving the way for LGBTQIA+ surfers in elite surfing, one wave at a time.

    Leah hails from a ling line of water people, sailors & seers who tend to get restless with too many days stacked on land. Leah is an autistic surfer, educator & somatic’s practitioner, as well as an off-the-clock wizard.

    Slowdown Somatic’s is their small business based in Mexico & Canada, centered around somatic education, trauma resolution, neurodiversity advocacy & inclusive surfing.

    Mando has been a self proclaimed board nerd for as long as anyone has known them. One day their surfboard hoarding turned into the foundation for their passion and their business, “Mando Surf Co.”

    Mando makes high quality hipster surfboards & anything else that floats. There’s no wrong way to ride a wave. Mando proudly identifies as queer, a-gendered, & non-binary. Fagot is acceptable, as well.

    Tyler is a physical eduction teacher & strength coach. As a middle & high school educator, & a current board member of the PFLAG Manhattan Beach chapter, Tyler hopes to create a safer, more empathetic place for youth to become empowered & confident in their bodies & identities.

    Tyler is an avid bodysurfer & adventure enthusiast. They proudly identify as queer, trans masculine, & non-binary.

    Z Plazcencia is a queer, latine, non-binary surfer from Los Angeles, CA. They are deeply committed to coastal environmental justice & fostering a more inclusive line-up.

    These days they are working on environmental justice, tribal affairs, & DEIJ policies at the California Coastal Commission. Z is stoked to bring their grassroots organizing background & policy advocacy skills to help support the collective.

    Sabrina advocates for access, inclusion, equity and equal pay.

    She says, “Increasing the number of events and the number of awards for women, as well as offering equal prize money, is the best way to achieve equity and gender diversity in competitive surfing.”

    In 2016, Sabrina co-founded the Committee for Equity in Women’s Surfing and in 2020 she founded Surf Equity. She served two consecutive 4-year terms as a Harbor Commissioner in San Mateo County.
